Coming Fall 2025, the departments of Geographical and Sustainability Sciences (GSS) and Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES), along with the Environmental Sciences program, will combine in a new School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability to build on and strengthen the areas of climate, environmental, and sustainability science and policy at the University of Iowa.

Earth Day 2024 Open House

The Earth & Environmental Sciences and Geographical and Sustainability Sciences departments will be hosting a free Open House and Earth Day celebration.

The day’s events will include hands-on-exhibits and demonstrations.

Highlights include an augmented reality sandbox, stream table, rocks and minerals, insect diversity, Devonian and Ice Age fossils, impact craters, a virtual tour of Mars, LiDAR demonstrations, and groundwater contaminant models.
